Fun with Type

As a change of pace. . . here's some sketches for a typography project I'm playing with.  Ambigrams are fun! (For anyone who didn't catch "Angels and Demons" last summer the idea is that the word should read the same when it's turned 180˚. By the way the guy who did those ambigrams is 'freaking awesome. Check out John Langdon's work here )

New Series: Rebecca

I've recently discovered Hilaire Belloc's "Cautionary Tales for Children".
I couldn't resist illustrating some of the poems.

This is the start of a series of posts for  "Rebecca, Who Slammed Doors for Fun and Perished Miserably"

I like it . . . we've got a girl and we've got a door -- but this doesn't show her personality properly. She seems too cute.  I need to show that she's more of a problem child. Revisions will continue. . .

Portrait

First day of the winter term at AiPD and I always start the class with a portrait (as literal or interpretative as they like) of Einstein. I wonder how many versions of this guy I've done?

I love walking through the Pacific NW woods. Those moments seem to influence my subconcious.

Recent Sketches

I'm noticing that I'm more attracted to "designed" space than "3-D" space recently.
These are some sketches that are starting to explore that idea.
